BIFA makes board appointments

BIFA makes board appointments The British International Freight Association has named Conservative Party politician Norman Fowler as its new president and Philip Stephenson, joint managing director of U.K.-based independent freight forwarder Davies Turner, as national chairman.
   Fowler was a member of Margaret Thatcher’s cabinet from 1981 to 1990 and was awarded a peerage to the House of Lords in 2001. He replaces the Earl of Caithness, who had been president of BIFA for the last three years.
   Stephenson moves from his current role as BIFA’s vice chairman and succeeds Doug Overett, who has held the position of national chairman for the past two years.
   Andrew Melton, manager of Hay World Cargo Ltd., is the new BIFA vice-chairman.
