Bottomley had been a member of parliament since 1975. In Thatcher’s government from 1984 to 1990, he was parliamentary undersecretary of state at the Department for Employment, roads minister in the Department of Transport and then minister for environment and agriculture in the Northern Ireland Office.
Steve Parker, head of Customs and brokerage in Europe for DHL Global Forwarding, has been named BIFA's national chairman. He was vice chairman and succeeds Andrew Melton, who served as national chairman for the two years.
Carson McMullan of All-Route Shipping (NI) Ltd., has been appointed vice chairman.
