Jersey City-based Importer Services Corp., a major importer and manufacturer of products from gum arabic and other gums has acquired a 113,386-square-foot industrial building in Edison for $6.35 million.

The company makes premium hydrocolloids for the food, beverage, pharmaceutical and technical industries, and has made water-soluble gums — gum acacias, gum karaya, gum tragacanth and gum ghatti — for half a century.

According to its Web site, it has produced more than 100 million pounds for use in a wide variety of applications, since 1961.
