BIMCO names Pluta as U.S. liaison

BIMCO, the Denmark-based global association of deep sea vessel owners and operators, has appointed Paul J. Pluta, a retired U.S. Coast Guard rear admiral, as its U.S. liaison officer.

Pluta was senior vice president of UNITECH, a security consulting company. He retired from the Coast Guard in July 2003, after serving as Assistant Commandant, Marine Safety, Security and Environmental Protection, at U.S. Coast Guard headquarters in Washington, D.C.

BIMCO said in a statement that Pluta will act as senior contact to the Bush administration on behalf of BIMCO, acting in conjunction with the Chamber of Shipping of America, which cooperates with BIMCO.
