“We are taking this action to enhance procedural transparency in the licensing process and to help exporters comply with U.S. export and re-export control laws,” BIS said in a statement.
BIS said any company information posted to the Web page is for informational purposes only and does not signify any additional obligations under the Export Administration Regulations.
“BIS will not validate or be responsible for the accuracy of the classification information, and inclusion on the Web page does not denote BIS endorsement of any company, its employees, or its products or services,” the agency said.
If a company has, or plans to have, commodity classification information available on its Web site, or an export control point of contact, and would like this information to be accessible via the BIS Web site, contact CommodityClassifications@bis.doc.gov.
BIS said to post information on the Web page, a company must include its name, general description of the products/services, commodity classification information Web site address, and export control point of contact (which may be a general telephone number or e-mail address).
