Bj÷rk.Eklund acquires NTN companies

Sweden's Bj'rk.Eklund Group said Tuesday it has acquired 16 companies that were part of the Norwegian Transport Network (NTN) Group.

NTN describes itself as the largest independent logistics network in Norway, and a leading international service provider of logistics services in the Nordic area with 49 companies.

Partners Stefan Bj'rk and Bj'rn Eklund said in a statement that many of the NTN companies would offer an effective fit with existing Bj'rk.Eklund companies, strengthening and giving new opportunities to their Gothenburg, Sweden-headquartered group. The deal was concluded on Dec. 30, but discussions are continuing with two of the 16 companies Bj'rk.Eklund is acquiring regarding the possibility of management buyouts.

'Together with these NTN companies, we will become an even stronger force in the Scandinavian market. We will have offices in more locations and hence a more dominant position in the Nordic-Baltic region,” said a Bj'rk Eklund statement. It said it would offer positions to around 250 of the staff it was acquiring.

Bj'rk.Eklund Group said the 16 companies it is acquiring are: Arealog OY, Asia Maritime Logistics Pte Ltd., Bergen Cargo A/S, Birger Ekerholt A/S, NTN Denmark A/S, NTN Larvik Logistkcenter A/S, NTN Latvia SIA, NTN Lithuania UAB, NTN Shipping A/S, Nordic Wave AB, Nordicon AB, Schiander Moss Shipping A/S, Schianders Shipping Drammen A/S, Schianders Intersped A/S, Schianders Intersped AB, and Ths Arbo H'gh & Co A/S.
