BNSF, FERROMEX MOVE HONDA AUTO PARTS TO MEXICO    Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway Co. and Ferrocarril Mexicano have formed a long-term agreement to move auto parts between Honda’s plants in Maryville, Ohio, and Guadalajara, Mexico.
   BNSF and Ferromex have developed a door-to-door intermodal product for moving the automotive parts, using BNSF's Mexi-Modal service.
   “This service has allowed Honda to benefit from the speed and efficiency of BNSF’s intermodal product, and take several truckloads a day off the road,” said Ricci Gardner, vice president of BNSF Automotive.
   “Our goal is to develop an efficient rail/highway integrated service, to support the transportation requirements of exporters and importers between Mexico and the United States, through our gateway in Ciudad Juarez,” said Julio Maza, vice president of Ferrocarril Mexicano (Ferromex) Intermodal.
   Ferromex began operations in February 1998, after obtaining concession from the Mexican government. The company represents 80 percent of the coverage in the Mexican National Railway System, and has invested more than $500 million in a five-year modernization program.
