BNSF Logistics buys DFL

BNSF Logistics buys DFL BNSF Logistics LLC, an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp., has acquired Grapevine, Texas-based international freight management company DFL, the collective name for Diversified Freight Logistics Inc. and Royal Cargo Line.
   Specific terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
   DFL generated revenue of about $40 million in 2007 and will now operate as BNSF Logistics International, providing air and ocean import and export (non-vessel-operating common carrier, ocean transportation intermediary, and indirect air carrier) and customs brokerage.
   'Stretching our services to encompass the international freight management spectrum is consistent with our recurring theme of evolving BNSF Logistics according to customer demand,” said Eric Wolfe, vice president and general manager of BNSF Logistics. “DFL's operations-focused approach parallels our North American efforts and the company provides an excellent platform for forward growth.”
   Michael Huseby, chief executive officer of DFL, said, 'As a seller, I wanted to ensure my customers remained intact, my employees were treated fairly and the business would be considered a strategic component of the overall combined entity.”
