BNSF to invest $5 billion in 2014

   BNSF announced last week a capital commitment plan for 2014 of $5 billion, which it said is a record plan and a $1 billion increase over its expenditures in 2013.
   The railroad will spend $2.3 billion on network upgrades, $1.6 billion on equipment purchases, $900 million for terminal and other expansion, and $200 million for positive train control installation.
