Boeing delivers first 747-400ERF to Cathay Pacific

Boeing on Friday delivered the first of six 747-400 Extended Range Freighters ordered in June 2006 by Cathay Pacific Airways.

   The 747-400ERF, which entered service in October 2002, has a maximum takeoff weight of 412,770 kilograms and can fly an additional 525 nautical miles, or carry an additional 9,980 kg of payload on long-range flights at maximum takeoff weight, compared to standard 747-400Fs.

   The Hong Kong-based airline will deploy the new 747-400ERFs on trunk routes to North America. The remaining aircraft on order will be delivered by April 2009.

   Cathay Pacific operates 115 airplanes, 18 of which are freighters, including six 747-400 Boeing Converted Freighters, six 747-400Fs and six 747-200Fs. The airline’s order book also includes two 747-400BCFs and 10 747-8Fs.
