Boeing receives freighter conversion order
Air Atlanta Icelandic, the world’s ninth-largest dedicated contract airline, has ordered four Boeing 747-400 converted freighters through its parent company Avion Aircraft Trading. The freighters will replace older 747-200s in the company’s fleet.
The first aircraft is scheduled for delivery in August 2007.
Air Atlanta Icelandic leases aircraft to airlines and then provides a full range of services, such as crew, maintenance and insurance, to operate them.
Air Atlanta ordered eight Boeing 777 freighters in 2005.
A Boeing subcontractor will modify the 747-400s for cargo configuration by adding a side cargo door, strengthening the floor, and adding a cargo handling system.
