The improvement was due to “better market shares and, in the last two months, better freight rates,” a spokesman for the group said.
Group operating profit increased by 61 percent, to 419 million francs ($59 million), compared to the first six months of 1999.
The Bollore group did not spell out the results for its transport arm.
