BONASSO NAMES NEW RSPA DEPUTY ADMINISTRATOR
The U.S. Transportation Department has appointed Samuel G. Bonasso to deputy administrator of its Research and Special Programs Administration.
In this position, Bonasso will be responsible for the safe and secure movement of hazardous materials to industry and consumers by all transportation modes. He will also oversee the emergency response programs by government agencies, training, and the application of science and technology to meet national transportation needs.
Prior to his appointment, Bonasso spent more than 35 years as an engineer and taught civil engineering at West Virginia University. He served as West Virginia’s transportation secretary from 1998 to 2000.
