Boston/Halifax service begins today

Massachusetts Port Authority lauded a new service from Eimskip between Halifax and Boston that begins today.

“This new call is a win for New England business, because it gives importers and exporters more extensive international shipping options to the global marketplace,” said Mike Leone, port director for Massport. “It extends our service reach with the many other ocean carriers that call Halifax.”

The new service will also help eliminate truck congestion on U.S. interstate and Canadian highways, the port said.

Eimskip’s New England Canada Short Sea Service or “NECA Express” will call at Conley Container Terminal in South Boston every Monday. In Halifax if will call at both the Ceres Fairview Cove Terminal and Halterm International Terminal.
