Branson initiative aims to cut ship emissions    Richard Branson, the flamboyant head of the Virgin Group, is behind a global initiative to clean up emissions from the world's oceangoing vessels.

   Dubbed the Carbon War Room, the initiative has targeted a 30 percent reduction in emissions from cargo vessels through upgrades and retrofitting, according to a report Monday by Sky News.
   Branson, whose portfolio includes the airline Virgin Atlantic, said told the news agency that it is up to business leaders to drive carbon reduction efforts since political leaders seem unwilling or unable to do so themselves.
   The initiative revolves primarily around a Web site that rates 60,000 vessels on their environmental worthiness (the Web site features a picture of Branson with A.P. Moller – Maersk Group Chief Executive Officer Nils Andersen and Arild Iversen, CEO of Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics).
