Brashares named COO Pacer Logistics

Freight transportation provider Pacer International has promoted Jeff Brashares, vice chairman for commercial sales, to chief operating officer of its Pacer Logistics business unit, effective immediately.

Pacer Logistics provides truck brokerage, warehousing and distribution, freight forwarding, and supply chain management services to shippers.

Brashares succeeds Alex Munn, who has resigned to pursue other activities, Pacer said. In 2006, the logistics unit realized a 58 percent drop in operating income to $500,000, assisted by a 4.2 percent decline in revenue to $101 million. That compares to a 14 percent fall off in operating profit for the intermodal division.

Pacer, based in Concord, Calif., is a non-asset based company that arranges freight moves for customers. The company's claim to fame is as a wholesale buyer of double-stack container rail service and broker of intermodal rail service.
