Brazil offers ship-efficiency grant

   The Brazilian government has launched a $41 million real ($19.24 million) grant program intended to boost its competitiveness in the shipbuilding industry by generating new technology and equipment for vessels. 
   According to a statement, the goal is to increase jobs in shipbuilding as well as increase the efficiency of the ships themselves. Individual proposals, which must be submitted by June 21, will be capped at $3.3 million real.
   “Proposals will be selected that are focused on at least one of the following four topics: navigation, positioning, anchoring and mooring systems. energy generation, distribution and storage, automation, control and software, environment, safety and salvage,” the statement read.
