Bremerhaven, Shekou terminals sign cooperative arrangement

Container terminals in Germany and South China on Tuesday signed an agreement to cooperate on technology, environmental and security programs.

EUOGATE Bremerhaven Terminal and Shekou Container Terminal (in the Port of Shenzhen) signed the agreement Tuesday in Shanghai at the Transport Logistic exhibition.

“EUROGATE Container Terminal Bremerhaven and Shekou Container Terminals are similarly positioned in their respective markets,” the terminals said in a statement. “They are geostrategically well-placed to service the growth markets in their respective regions, which are for the most part linked via feeder networks. In the case of Bremerhaven these are the neighboring Baltic states, for Shenzhen it is the region around the Pearl River Delta.”

Bremerhaven handled 4.9 million TEUs in 2007, while Shekou handled 3.3 million.
