Brightstar partners with San Diego firm to create Brightstar Retail Miami-based wireless device distributor Brightstar Corp. said Wednesday it has partnered with WSA Distributing to create a new retail point of sale company.
   While financial details of the arrangement were not disclosed, Brightstar will control a majority interest in the new venture, Brightstar Retail.
   According to Brightstar, the new entity will diversify the firm's offerings, increase the overall products supported, and offer 'high demand consumer electronics products' to retail customers alongside its wireless handset and accessory product lines.
   San Diego, Calif.-based WSA Distributing, a distribution company representing consumer electronics brands such as Logitech, Creative, Belkin, Uniden, iSymphony and Lexar in many parts of Latin America, will provide Brightstar Retail entry into 4,000 points of sale that WSA supports today.
   Brightstar Retail's focus will be the manufacture, distribution and support of consumer electronic products such as mp3 players, flat screens, cordless phones, two-way radios, accessories and other communications and electronics devices to top retailers throughout the country.
   The company plans to expand services and its consumer electronics product portfolio to other countries in Latin America and around the world in the near future.
