British flag awarded Qualship 21 status by U.S. Coast Guard

The U.S. Coast Guard has given its Qualship 21 safety recognition status to the UK Ship Register which recently gained top ranking on the Paris MOU Committee’s 2006 “White List” of Flag States.

Qualship 21 — Quality Shipping for the 21st Century — was established in 2001 and is awarded to non-U.S. flag registries that average at least 10 distinct U.S. arrivals a year and have a three-year running detention rate of 1 percent or less

“This is excellent news and highlights the fact that the UK Ship Register is recognized as a quality register as proved through its recent significant growth,” said David Wright, Registrar General for the UK Ship Register.
