Bronson joins call for renewable energy

Bronson joins call for renewable energy Florida Agriculture and Consumer Services Commissioner Charles H. Bronson, who has been named to the steering committee of a national group intent on increasing development of renewable energy sources, joined the group Wednesday in calling for a 25 percent increase in the country's supply of renewable energy sources by 2025.
   The organization, known as 25 by 25, includes representation from more than 400 organizations, including the American Farm Bureau Federation and the National Wildlife Federation to General Motors.
   'With Florida's abundant sunshine, ample rainfall and roughly 10 million acres of farm land, our agricultural and forestry industries can produce massive amounts of ethanol and bio-diesel,' Bronson said. 'Such an effort would help reduce this country’s dependence on foreign oil while at the same time provide our growers with another crop to make a living on and assure the future viability of their farms.'
   The national group said its plans for greater use of renewable energy sources would generate $700 billion a year in new economic activity by 2025, and would reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 1 billion tons.
