Buffett’s railroad interest chugs along
Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway revealed last week in an Securities and Exchange Commission filing that it has purchased 7.8 million additional shares of Burlington Northern Santa Fe stock, giving it control of 17.2 percent of the nation’s second-largest railroad.
Berkshire now owns 60.8 million shares of BNSF.
The Omaha-based company had said earlier that it owned 10.5 million shares of Union Pacific Corp. and nearly 6.4 million shares of Norfolk Southern Corp. However, it is not known whether the conglomerate is still holding that stock.
