Busan projects 7% throughput growth for 2008
The Port of Busan said Friday it aims to handle 14.2 million TEUs in 2008, which would represent a 7 percent increase over its 2007 volume.
It is targeting slightly higher growth (7.3 percent) in transshipment cargo, which represents about 40 percent of the port’s total volume and is considered key to the success of its Newport, some 25 kilometers outside of downtown Busan.
Overall, the port said it would invest $208 million in its container terminals through 2009.
