Bush appoints new ITC chairman, vice chairman

President Bush has appointed Daniel R. Pearson chairman of the U.S. International Trade Commission for the term June 17 to June 16, 2008.

Pearson was confirmed as ITC commissioner by the Senate on Nov. 21, 2004, for the term ending June 16, 2011. However, he began serving as commissioner on Oct. 8, 2003, under a recess appointment.

Prior to joining the ITC, Pearson was assistant vice president of public affairs for Cargill in Minneapolis, where he worked extensively on global trade issues.

Bush also named Shara L. Aranoff ITC vice chairman for the term June 17 to June 16, 2008. She’s serving a term with the commission that expires on Dec. 16, 2012.

Before her appointment to the ITC, Aranoff was senior international trade counsel on the Democratic staff of the Senate Finance Committee.
