Bush names ambassador to Dominican Republic
President Bush on Friday nominated P. Robert Fannin to be the U.S. ambassador to the Dominican Republic. He will replace Hans Hertell, who previously announced plans to retire.
Fannin is from Arizona and is a senior partner in the Phoenix law firm Steptoe & Johnson. He is an expert in administrative law and government relations, a White House press release said. Fannin's appointment is subject to yet-to-be-scheduled Senate confirmation hearings.
