The London secretariat of the 16-carrier strong Far Eastern Freight Conference has made a series of announcements in the last few of days including an extended peak season, an increased high-cube charge, bunker and currency adjustments, as well as the confirmation of a westbound rate restoration and a new eastbound tariff.
Due to what it described as “unprecedented volumes and exceptionally high utilizations” the conference is extending the peak season surcharge on both the Mediterranean and North European trades until Feb. 17.
At the same time, the conference confirmed a previously announced westbound rate restoration from Oct. 1 of $200 per TEU for general cargo containers and $350 per TEU for reefers. Also from Oct. 1, the High Cube Additional will be increased to $300 per unit.
Meanwhile, the FEFC has set its revised tariff for the eastbound trade with full details available from www.fareasternfreightconference.com/Press_and_Notices.
The conference also announced its October bunker and currency adjustment factors, which are unchanged from those set for September.
The BAF applicable to the trade to and from the United Kingdom, Northwest Continent, Scandinavia and Baltic Sea will be $345 per TEU as it will also be for the Mediterranean and West Coast European region.
The currency adjustment factor applicable for the month will be 11.2 percent (from 11.4 percent).
FEFC members are ANL Container Lines, APL, CMA CGM, CSAV Norasia, Egyptian International Shipping Co., Hapag-Lloyd, Hyundai Merchant Marine, “K” Line, Maersk Line, Mediterranean Shipping Co., MISC Berhad, MOL, NYK, OOCL, Safmarine and Yang Ming.
