Profit was $83.7 million for the quarter ending Sept. 30 compared to $70.4 million in the same 2006 period. Revenue was $1.54 billion, up from $1.39 billion.
The company said it had an increase in its transportation gross profit margin due to a slight increase in truck transportation gross profit margins and a change in mix of business.
Faster growth in its air and miscellaneous transportation management services businesses resulted in higher gross profit margins than the overall transportation business.
