California leads U.S. pack in high-tech exports    Evidently all those cell phones, computers and televisions add up.
   High-tech goods are the most valuable U.S. export, but a report released Tuesday by a leading trade group details that for every $2 of high-tech goods exported, the nation imports nearly $3 worth.
   The American Electronics Association report shows that California is the U.S. high-tech export leader, up 8.4 percent over 2005 to $51.8 billion.
   As a nation, the United States exported $220 billion worth of high-tech goods last year, representing 20 percent of all U.S. exports in value. The high-tech category studied in the report includes such goods as computers and peripherals, communication equipment, semiconductors, as well as industrial, medical and consumer electronics.
   Imports of high-tech goods accounted for $322 billion leading to a $102 billion trade gap of which $88 billion is directly tied to China.
   Still, the report notes, California tech export numbers are in decline since 2000, while those of Texas and Florida — at $38.6 billion and $12.4 billion, respectively — have increased. California peaked in 2000, exporting $67.5 billion but has since decline by 23 percent. Texas has seen a 16 percent increase in high-tech exports in the same time frame and Florida high-tech exports have shot up 31 percent.
