Canada, Caricom open trade talks
The Caribbean Community nations and Canada have opened talks for a possible free trade agreement between Canada and Caricom's 15 member nations.
Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper issued a statement on his Web site that said Canada supports the pending implementation of a single-market economy for Caricom in 2008, adding that should ease the path for future trade agreements.
He also visited Bridgetown, Barbados, last week to tout the prospects for a trade agreement.
