Canada gives C$500,000 to IMO security trust fund

Canada gives C$500,000 to IMO security trust fund    The Canadian government has paid the second installment of its C$500,000 ($446,683) grant to the International Maritime Organization’s International Maritime Security Trust Fund.
   Canada’s contribution is the largest contribution ever made to the fund by a single member state and will be used to assist contracting states in implementing the requirements mandated under the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) code, Transport Canada said.
   Other contributors to the IMO’s fund include the governments of Denmark, Egypt, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, the Republic of Korea, the Russian Federation, Sweden, the United Kingdom, the United States and a training institute (the United States-based Northeast Maritime Institute).
