Canada’s biggest software company to use Amber Road for export screening

Enterprise information management provider OpenText will use Amber Road’s Export On-Demand program, which screens restricted party lists and determines license requirements.    The global trade management solutions provider Amber Road has inked a deal to aid export automation for OpenText, Canada’s largest software company.
   OpenText, which provides enterprise information management systems, will use Amber Road’s Export On-Demand solution. Prior to using the solution, the Waterloo, Ont.-based OpenText relied on a manual export screening process.
   Export On-Demand allows OpenText to integrate with a variety of software systems across more than 250,000 partners, 360,000 transactions and 100 users. OpenText will be able to automate restricted party screening of new opportunities, professional services engagements and customer support maintenance renewals, as well as manage restricted products, export licenses and their associated values.
   “We needed an export compliance solution to increase product and service time-to-market, enhance export controls and reduce manual checks occurring outside our export compliance office,” said Douglas A. Young, export compliance manager and empowered official for OpenText Corp.
   Export On-Demand is a subscription-based solution that screens potential customers against 298 restricted party lists, determining license requirements, performing export compliance checks and generating international trade documents.
   “Amber Road has become a significant component of OpenText’s Export Compliance Program,” Young said, adding that OpenText may also use Export On-Demand’s restricted party screening functionality in its human resources department to vet contractors and new hires.
