CANADIAN CONFERENCES RAISE THC CHARGE

CANADIAN CONFERENCES RAISE THC CHARGE

Member shipping lines of the Canadian Westbound and Eastbound Conferences have announced an increase in terminal handling charges for shippers and consignees, effective Feb. 1.

The conferences said the increased terminal handling charge is the result of increased costs for carriers to operate in Canadian east coast and St. Lawrence river ports. The new charge will be C$400 per 20-foot container and C$550 per 40-foot container.

Conference member shipping lines imposing the new terminal handling charge are Atlantic Container Line, Canada Maritime, Cast Group Services, Hapag-Lloyd, and Orient Overseas Container Line.
