CANADIAN CONFERENCES TO RAISE ATLANTIC REEFER RATES    The Canada United Kingdom Freight Conference and the Canadian Continental Eastbound Freight Conference said they would raise rates for temperature-controlled containers, effective May 15.
   The increases will be $325 per 20-foot container and $400 per 40-foot container.
   “The surge in demand for this specialized equipment dictates that member lines restore revenues to a level that compensates for costs of handling and equipment maintenance,” the conferences said in a statement.
   Member lines include Atlantic Container Line AB, Canada Maritime Ltd., Cast Group Services Ltd., Hapag-Lloyd Container Linie GmbH and Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL).
