CANADIAN CONFERENCES TO RAISE RATES JULY 1    The Continental Canadian Westbound Freight Conference and the Canadian North Atlantic Westbound Freight Conference said they'll implement a general rate increase of $200 per 20-foot container and $250 per 40-foot container for general cargo, effective July 1.
   For temperature-controlled cargo, increases will be $250 per 20-foot container and $300 per 40-foot container.
   “The Westbound markets continue to be strong, and these increases are part of the revenue restoration program that is needed in order to continue to provide customers with the level of service they require,” the conferences said in a statement.
   As previously reported, the two Canadian conferences plan to increase their general rates again on Oct. 1.
   Members of the conferences are Atlantic Container Line, Canada Maritime, Cast, Hapag-Lloyd, and Orient Overseas Container Line.
