Canadian labor minister summons Teamsters

   Teamsters Canada Rail Conference said Lisa Raitt, Canada’s labor minister, summoned Vice President Doug Finnison to Ottawa for a meeting today as the midnight deadline for a possible strike against Canadian Pacific Railway looms.
   The union put out a notice to its members Monday that said it was unsure what the request “means and any attempt to interpret the minister’s actions would be premature”
   It told members to prepare for a possible strike Wednesday morning.
   The Teamsters, which represents about 4,800 CP workers, issued a 72 hours strike notice on Saturday.
   If a strike occurs it would affect freight and commuter railroads in Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal.
   Finnison said the union had offered to continue operating the commuter trains, but CP said it would not operate these trains in the event of a strike.
