Canadian produce buyers head to Florida

A delegation of produce buyers and wholesalers from Ontario, Canada, will travel to Florida in March to meet with some of Florida's top agricultural producers and tour farms, packinghouses and state farmers' markets.

The trade mission will be hosted by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, in conjunction with the Southern United States Trade Association and FayeClack Communications.

The purpose of the trip is to strengthen trade relations with Canada by 'showcasing the quality and variety of Florida agricultural products that are available for export to Canadian consumers,' the Florida agricultural department said.

More than $588 million in Florida agricultural products were shipped to Canada in 2007, making the country Florida's top export market.
