Canadian wheat production increases to 18 million tons

The Canadian Wheat Board (CWB) said that Canadian farmers delivered over 18 million tons of grain into the wheat, durum, designated barley and feed barley pools, up five million tons from the 2002-03 crop year. It also reported a 24 percent increase in revenues for the crop year ended July 31, 2004, to C$4.1 billion ($3.3 billion).

Revenues were up across the four pool accounts as production levels returned to average following two consecutive years of drought, Adrian Measner, CWB president and chief executive officer, said.
