The Canaveral Port Authority recently received a $1.6 million port security grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. A quarter million dollars will be spent on initial development of a port-wide cyber-security program.
Another $728,000 will go toward deployment of maritime situational awareness software that allows for planning, response and analysis and can be fully integrated with existing surveillance systems.
The remaining $711,000 will be used to purchase closed circuit TV cameras for the new container terminal and yard.
