CargoItalia starts Milan/New York/Toronto service

Cargoitalia said Wednesday its second scheduled service, from Milan to New York and Toronto, began operating Sept. 27 with the airline’s second MD11SF freighter.

Flights will operate twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays.

Cargoitalia has appointed New York-based Heavyweight Air Express as its U.S. general sales and service agent (GSSA).

“Cargoitalia is one of few carriers offering main-deck capacity between the United States and Italy,' said HAE Director Peter Kerins. 'There are also strong opportunities in Europe using road feeders from the airline’s Milan hub.'

In Canada, Cargoitalia’s GSSA is Network Cargo Services.

“The potential for cargo from Canada to Italy, and central and eastern Europe is strong, as we are offering the only freighter capacity for those markets,' said NCS President Howard Jones. 'In addition, Cargoitalia’s route network beyond Milan makes the product very attractive here.”

Cargoitalia’s started a twice-weekly service from Milan to Hong Kong on Sept. 10.
