Cargotec joins zero-emission terminal demonstration

Vision Industries Corp. and Cargotec USA have agreed to cooperate on a zero-emission terminal tractor demonstration project for the Technology Advancement Program (TAP).
TAP is a clean-air initiative sponsored by the twin ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.
The project will demonstrate the value of deploying zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell-electric hybrid terminal tractors to move containerized cargo within the port facilities.
For the operations, Vision Industries will install its hybrid drive system on Cargotec’s Kalmar Ottawa terminal tractors.
“There is a growing global demand for clean container movement technologies,” said David Wood, director of terminal tractors in North America for Cargotec.
Vision is a developer of zero-emission electric-hydrogen hybrid-powered vehicles as well as hydrogen fueling systems. CargoTec has expanded its zero-emissions operations, including a May project to deliver 17 all-electric Kalmar ECF50-90 forklifts to Ford Motor Co.
