Cargotec, Orange Business Services sign IoT agreement

The Finnish logistics provider will utilize Orange Business Services’ Internet of Things (IoT) solutions to increase efficiency in its supply chain.    Finland-based Cargotec has signed a three-year, multimillion euro agreement with Internet of Things (IoT) provider Orange Business Services for worldwide IoT connectivity, Orange Business Service announced on Tuesday.
   The IoT connectivity solution from Orange will integrate intelligence into the machinery to provide better collaboration for daily operations, monitor and maintain equipment to enable the highest possible uptime, and react remotely before problems arise. It will also help Cargotec develop insightful data-driven services, the company said.
   Cargotec‘s business areas – Kalmar, Hiab and MacGregor – offer cargo handling equipment and automated terminal solutions, on-road load handling solutions, and marine cargo and offshore load handling services, respectively.

   IoT connectivity will enable new digital services at a much higher degree of operational efficiency, including seamless IoT SIM card ordering, simple activation and tracking through a dedicated portal, one price per IoT SIM card regardless of location, and scalable connectivity reaching 220 countries and territories.
