CargoWise adds SQL2012 support

CargoWise, a provider technology applications for logistics service providers and an established Microsoft partner in logistics, has announced its participation in the launch of the latest version of Microsoft’s SQL database server (SQL2012).
The pair has had a business relationship for more than 10 years and CargoWise has become one of Microsoft’s largest independent logistics software vendors (ISV), especially in Australia.
Microsoft’s ISV alliance manager, David Sajfar, said CargoWise “plays a special role in relation to promoting the advantages of SQL to the logistics industry.”
“We have found huge capability and performance advancements in our development with SQL2012,” said CargoWise chief architect Brett Shearer. “We intend to drive this innovation even harder to extract every last piece of performance from the CargoWise-Microsoft platform.”
The company said it is looking to migrate all of its hosted customers over to SQL2012 for enhanced functions and better disaster recovery. It aims to finish the migration over the next year.
Microsoft SQL Server is a relational database server whose main function is to store and retrieve data used and requested by other applications and systems. There are a range of editions for the Microsoft SQL Server aimed at different audiences and for different workloads, spanning small applications on a single system to millions of users with the full Internet as a source used at the same time.
Microsoft SQL Server 2012 went live on March 6.
