Caricom in talks to expand Cuba pact

The 15-nation Caribbean Community was reported to be in negotiations with Cuba Wednesday to expand the duty-free products in the existing Caricom-Cuba Trade and Economic Cooperation Agreement.

According to a report in the Miami Herald, negotiators were seeking to add hundreds of items to a list of goods exempted from import taxes.

The original trade pact was signed in July 2000 and included an agreement to add new products in 2004, with additional negotiation after that to expand duty-free trade.
