CAROTRANS ADDS DIRECT RIO GRANDE SERVICE    CaroTrans International Inc., the Union, N.J.-based non-vessel-operating common carrier, has added a direct fortnightly service to and from Rio Grande, Brazil.
   Cargo bound for Rio Grande is loaded in Miami.
   CaroTrans International has an partner agent, Craft Multimodal Ltda, to handle cargo in Rio Grande. Craft is a leading full-containerload and less-than-containerload consolidator in Brazil, operating eight offices and has trade specialists in Rio Grande, Santos, Rio de Janeiro and other Brazilian ports.
   'Currently, we have customers shipping between Rio Grande and the U.S. using other carriers, while using CaroTrans for cargo between Rio de Janeiro and Santos and the U.S.,' said Greg Howard, executive vice president of CaroTrans International. 'Now those customers can book their cargo with CaroTrans destined to or originating from three of these Brazilian ports.'
