CARPENTER TECHNOLOGY PICKS RYDER SYSTEM TO MANAGE SHIPMENTS

CARPENTER TECHNOLOGY PICKS RYDER SYSTEM TO MANAGE SHIPMENTS    Carpenter Technology Corp., a provider of specialty alloys, has contracted with Ryder System Inc. to provide transportation management services.
   Carpenter’s intent “is to find ways to optimize lanes and leverage services with a select group of carriers while reducing costs,” said David Brouse, the company’s director of supply chain operations and services.
   Under the contract, Miami-based Ryder will plan and manage the transportation of Carpenter’s finished products from its two mills and seven distribution centers to hundreds of customer locations. Ryder will also manage products arriving inbound to the mills, as well as providing routing instructions, compliance management, freight bill audit and payment, as well as dedicated contract carriage services.
