Carrier Group Market Share by Nominal Weekly Capacity

Ben Meyer analyzes nominal weekly capacity for major east-west trades, pre-G6 and present.

   Ben Meyer, American Shipper and BlueWater Reporting’s research analyst, has dedicated much of this year to researching and reporting on the G6 and P3 Alliances. During the 2014 American Shipper Executive Summit, Ben examined the P3-G6 Effect, the domino effect of consolidating ocean carrier alliances and VSAs that, despite being delayed earlier this summer by China’s rejection of the P3 alliance, is expected to continue in the coming years.
   Below you will find charts that were included in his presentation, which feature a comparison of the market share of each carrier group by nominal weekly capacity for each of the three major east-west trades presently, and prior to the formation of the G6 Alliance.
