Carriers end U.S./Brazil loop to join with CSAV    CKYH Alliance partners 'K' Line, Hanjin and Yang Ming have to decided to end their U.S. East Coast/Brazil service and instead join the existing USATLAN string of CSAV.
   The last sailing of the Asian carrier's service — which Hanjin marketed as NSA, Yang Ming as ESA and 'K' Line as SAMCO — will be made by the vessel Port Said arriving at Santos May 5. The service, operated with South Korean line Hyundai Merchant Marine (referred to as LA1 by HMM), used four ships in the 1,800-TEU range with a rotation of New York, Norfolk, Savannah, Itajai, Santos and back to New York.
   At the time of writing it is unclear whether HMM, which entered the trade in December 2006 by joining the soon to be deleted service, will also join CSAV's loop.
   Under the deal with CSAV, 'K' Line, Hanjin or Yang Ming will operate one of the five 2,500-TEU ships on the USATLAN, with CSAV contributing four vessels.
   The port rotation of the USATLAN is New York, Baltimore, Norfolk, Charleston, Sao Francisco do Sul, Santos, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Puerto Cabello, and back to New York. None of the new partners serve Puerto Cabello.
   Already taking space on the USATLAN are Libra, Hamburg Sud, Alianca and CMA CGM.
