Carriers raise Trinidad, Venezuela port congestion surcharges    The Association of West India Transatlantic Steamship Lines, a conference of Europe/Caribbean shipping companies, said it will increase port congestion surcharges for shipments to and from Port of Spain in Trinidad and the port of Puerto Cabello in Venezuela, effective Aug. 1.
   The Trinidad surcharge will rise from $41 to $44 per TEU for U.S. dollar-denominated rates, and from 32 to 34 euros per TEU for euro-based freight rates.
   For Puerto Cabello, the port congestion surcharge applicable to dollar-denominated rates will go up from $51 to $56 per TEU, while the surcharge for euro-based rates will rise from 39 to 43 euros per TEU.
   “The surcharges will be adjusted in the light of prevailing conditions until the ports return to normal working conditions,” the conference said.
