Cartagena port adds real-time locator

   California-based Navis, part of the Cargotec Corp., announced that its Real Time Locating System (RTLS) will be used at the Sociedad Portuaria de Cartagena (SPRC) terminal in the Port of Cartagena, Columbia.
   The RTLS is part of Navis’ Star Technology Alliance that blends its terminal operations with tracking and data platforms from its partners.
   The SPRC terminal’s process automation rollout is scheduled to go live this year and will use both the Navis SPARCS terminal operating solution (TOS) and Zebra Technologies’ WhereNet function, to track the location of trucks, tractor rigs, and other assets in real-time. The WhereNet product provides the location information to the SPARCS TOS.
   Navis said the Port of Cartagena is the first in South America to deploy this kind of RTLS system to track truck movement.
