Cathay Pacific achieves October cargo rise

The ailrine’s October air freight activity rose 14%, year-over-year.    Cathay Pacific and its Dragonair subsidiary saw a 14-percent, year-over-year, increase in October total cargo tonnage, as capacity increased by 12.3 percent.
   For the first 10 months of 2014, cargo tonnage is up by 11.9 percent on a 11.4-percent rise in capacity, when compared to the same period in 2013.
   Cathay’s load factor rose by 3.5 percent, year-over-year during October.
Compared to October 2013, cargo revenue rose by 18.7 percent. Revenue for the year is up by 15 percent, when compared to the first 10 months of 2013.
   Cathay Pacific General Manager, Cargo Sales and Marketing, Mark Sutch said consumer IT products buoyed cargo demand out of Hong Kong and China.
   “North America remains the focus of our business, and we strengthened our network further last month with the launch of a new freighter service to Calgary and increased frequencies into Mexico,” he stated. “Intra-Asia freight is an increasingly important part of our business, and we will launch a new twice-weekly service to Phnom Penh this month to capture more of the demand.”
